Limited signs of mild handling wear. -- From back cover: "'12 x Death' is the true story of Michal Pauli, a free-spirited Polish artist who gets the death penalty twelve times over, survives six brutal years in the notorious Bambat and Bang Kwang prisons in Bangkok, and lives to tell the tale. Michal's true-life story of betrayal, bureaucracy, corruption, love found, love lost, near-death, and hope in the face of despair is as gripping as any thriller. Thrown into unspeakable living conditions for six years, surrounded by some of the toughest murderers, dealers and junkies on the planet, Michal keeps his spirit alive and uses his artist's eye to observe the human hell around him. His memoir is rich in details about the prisoners around him and their desperate struggle for survival. When the King of Thailand grants Michal an unprecedented pardon after three Polish presidents clamor for his release, he is a free man - but a very different one." "Nobody would want to find themselves in his position. Nobody would want to hear a death sentence in an Asian court. Nobody would want to feel shackles around their ankles. And that's why the book is worth reading. Because it begins where all the other stories end." (Tomek Michniewicz, Journalist) -- "Michal Pali was born in 1972. A painter and ceramicist, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland. He currently lives in Kielce, Poland." -- Contents: Return; The Siamese Trap; SkyTrain; Waiting Room; Welcome to Bambat; Daan Nine; The Visit; The First Trial; July 2547; Solitary Confinement; The Hospital; The Business; Theravada; Unexpected Visitor; The Move; Daan Six; Winter 2548; The System; March 2548; April 7, 2548; May 10, 2548; June 2458; Ebony Company; The Golden Triangle; Twist of Fate; 25 October 2548; Another Sentence; Coup d'Etat; Darma; The Year 2550; Loi Krathong; Bitter Pill; Thai Geniuses; Political Digressions; Yellow Envelope; November 25.…
