Die Autorinnen und Autoren der einzelnen Beiträge setzten sich darin mit den Fragen der Sprachenbildung aus einer zeitlichen Perspektive auseinander. Aus historischer Sicht wird hier die Rolle der Wà rterbücher bei der Fà rderung der sprachlichen Kompetenz erà rtert. AnschlieÃend werden kulturspezifische Inhalte der Lehrwerke für DaF in Polen aus den 1980er Jahren geschildert. Einige andere Beiträge knüpfen an das Sprach- und Kulturerbe an. Die darin behandelten Themen sind für die Gegenwart des Fremdsprachenunterrichts von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung. Hier wird nach morphosemantischer Motivation von komplexen Wà rtern gesucht oder darauf aufmerksam gemacht, wie wichtig die Kenntnis des religià sen Wortschatzes beim Erlernen des Arabischen sei. Bezüglich der Vermittlung der deutschen Sprache wird wiederum für die Notwendigkeit der Einbeziehung von deren diatopischen Varietäten plädiert. AuÃerdem wird gezeigt, wie man mithilfe musikalischer Ausdrucksmà glichkeiten die Lernenden für Sprache(n) und Kultur(en) sensibilisieren und begeistern kann. Darüber hinaus wird der Einsatz von Märchen thematisiert und deren Rolle bei der Entwicklung der sprachlichen Empfindlichkeit der Kleinkinder herausgehoben. Die darauffolgenden Beiträge sind in der Gegenwart sprachdidaktischer Prozesse verankert. Schlussfolgerungen, die sich aus ihnen ergeben, stehen aber in enger Verbindung zu künftigen Aufgaben. Am Beispiel des Englischen wird auf die Fà rderung der Fertigkeit Sprechen und dabei anhand empirischer Untersuchungen auf die Bedürfnisse der Lernenden eingegangen. Die genannten Themen werden mit den Fragen des Fachsprachenunterrichts ergänzt. Hieran werden Hinweise zur gezielten Vorbereitung auf ein ingenieur-wissenschaftliches Studium in Deutschland gegeben. Im abschlieÃenden Beitrag wird die Rolle von Fremdsprachenlehrenden angesichts der Bedingtheiten der Gegenwart diskutiert. Der Sammelband will die Prozesse des Fremdsprachenlehrens und -lernens als ein kontinuierliches Ganzes betrachten lassen, aus dessen Potenzial auch weitere Inspirationen für glottodidaktische Là sungen gewonnen werden kà nnen.
