Paperback. Condizione: New. Manage without giving up the work you love and discover the leader within.Conventional management thinking says that to manage effectively you must delegate. It implies that managers fall into a dangerous trap when they continue to perform tasks they love from a previous role. And it says that to not "let go" is to give in to a controlling tendency that robs staff of development opportunities. But not everyone agrees.Today's increasingly knowledge-driven, cost-competitive work world is changing the way management gets done. More and more, people in management roles are becoming can-do leaders who must continue to practice their specialty while managing and developing the skills of others. But this group has had few guidelines to follow-until now.In Becoming a Can-Do Leader, executive coaches Frank Satterthwaite and Jamie Millard say it's time that management thinking catches up with reality. Their extensive experience training and coaching player-managers at all levels has shown that successful managers both delegate and do.Whether you're trying to survive your first promotion or coaching executives who yearn to keep up with their field, essential guidelines for can-do leadership are inside this book. You'll find workplace examples that ring true, as well as unique strategies and tools that both help you identify your values and provide insight into your natural leadership style.Don't let your knowledge and skills decline by stepping completely out of the professional picture. It's time to get productively and selectively involved in the work, enabling you to manage more effectively and keep up with important advances in your field-all while developing and leading your team to success.Discover how to work strategically with staff while continuing to grow expertise in your profession. That's can-do leadership.…

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Near Fine condition. First Edition. SCARCE! Volume Eight of this literary magazine. NOT a library discard. We have only this one copy, but it is available now and ready to ship today from Henderson, Nevada. Fine condition. Flat, uncreased spine. NOT a library discard. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked -- obviously seldom, if ever read. Illustrated in full color throughout. No year of publication indicated. Bound in the original lavender and yellow pictorial wraps. From a 2011 article by Laura van den Berg about Vol. 5: "Paper Darts founders Jamie Millard, Regan Smith, and Meghan Suszynski are 'taking back the lit scene, one lame pen and quill metaphor at a time.' Since 2009 Paper Darts has produced a reliably gorgeous magazine, and the organization recently expanded to include a press, which will soon publish its first title, John Jodzio's Get In If You Want To Live, a collection of 19 stories accompanied by illustrations from 19 artists. Jamie, Regan, and Meghan were kind enough to chat about widening readerships for literary magazines, succeeding in a crappy economy, Minneapolis, and bringing the fun back into literature." Laura: Paper Darts was founded in 2009. How did you get your start? Paper Darts: The three of us first met in 2008 while working on the staff of the Ivory Tower, the University of Minnesota's undergraduate literary magazine. After graduating in May of '09 into a horrible economy, we were left with the feeling of -- Okay, now what? -- Putting the extra time our underemployment afforded us to good use, we set out to bring our community a new kind of literary magazinesomething that embraced color, design, humor, and risk, and really utilized social media in a way we hadn't seen much before. The whole process of getting started was extremely grassroots, mostly a matter of meeting in coffee shops and our apartments everyday and saying "let's do this." We solicited work from our artist and writer friends until outside submissions began rolling in, taught ourselves web design and built paperdarts[dot]org, and embraced a print-on-demand model to keep costs in line with our budget of $0.00. We had a pretty diverse array of skills going into it (design/illustration, project management, writing, etc.) which have developed immensely over the past two years, but by far the most important thing we ever put into Paper Darts was a LOT of hard work". First Edition. Softcover. Near Fine condition. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 160pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping. NOT a library discard (illustratore).…
