Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Four separately produced publications, approximately 8.5 x 11 inches, comprising: (1) Nory Miller, A New Life for the Glessner House, That "Granite Hut" on Prairie Avenue, six-page illustrated offprint from Inland Architect, September 1971; (2) M. W. Newman, Granite Hut, eight-page illustrated offprint from Architectural Forum, November 1972; (3) John Jacob Glessner and His House on Prairie Avenue, Chicago, five-page typescript reproduction incorporating a 1973 article by Paul Sprague; and (4) John Jacob Glessner, The Story of a House, ten-page typescript reproduction of Glessner's remarkable 1923 firsthand account of the commissioning, construction, furnishing, and domestic life of his Richardson-designed residence. An uncommon assemblage documenting one of the seminal monuments of American domestic architecture, from its original conception and occupation to its rescue and restoration during the early architectural preservation movement. Particularly noteworthy are Glessner's personal recollections and the contemporary accounts of the building's rehabilitation by the Chicago School of Architecture Foundation. The two historical texts are undated later reproductions. From the working library of architectural historian Carol Herselle Krinsky, though unmarked. Price is for the grouping of four items. Mild bumping and rubbing to extremities; very good overall. …

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Lot of 40 titles from the Arno / New York Times Series The American Negro, His History and his literature. HEAVY Package - pickup can be arranged at our public storefront in downtown Manhattan. All told, the volumes are clean and well kept. From the home of a well regarded historian of Black studies. Also was a tobacco smoker, and that combined with age has led to occasional toning / darkening of the tan cloth part of these hardcover volumes - though without any consistency, it is present to some degree on nearly all. Faint odor as well, especially for those of sensitive nose, though to this seller it is not egregious. Besides that, the condition is pretty solid on all. Binding are all quite strong, sturdy, tight , square. No markings were found in any of the books, and no other damage to interiors at all. One volume has some fraying to the edge of the cloth of the front, and some of the volumes have lesser or greater degrees of rubbing, scuffing, dustsoiling, but all told clean beyond the toning. Uncommon to find so many in one place. Shipping will be extra ! pickup available in NYC.
