Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive exploration of projective geometry, a branch of mathematics concerned with the properties of geometric figures that remain unchanged under projection. The author guides readers through fundamental concepts such as cross-ratios, harmonic division, and the principle of duality, demonstrating how these principles provide a powerful framework for understanding geometric relationships. Emerging from the study of perspective in Renaissance art and further developed in the 17th and 18th centuries, projective geometry revolutionized geometric thinking by emphasizing the invariance of properties under projection. This book delves into the rich history and applications of projective geometry, covering topics such as conic sections, reciprocation, and the properties of complete quadrangles and quadrilaterals. Through clear explanations and numerous examples, the author illuminates the connections between seemingly disparate geometric concepts. Readers will gain a deeper appreciation for the elegance and power of projective geometry and its ability to unify various branches of mathematics. This book unveils the profound insights of projective geometry, demonstrating its ability to reveal hidden connections and provide a framework for understanding the invariant properties of geometric figures. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
