Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Poor. 1st Edition. University of Nebraska Press / A Bison Book, Lincoln, NE. 1973. Softcover/Trade Wraps/ Facsimile copy of the 1926 original. BB 571. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good; light edgewear to wraps; opening crease on spine. No D…J Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding. 268 pp 8vo. Fold out map is present on page 130. In this narrative there is a rare story of adventure and service surrounding Yellowstone Kelly. General Nelson Miles who knew him long and intimately, fitly compares him with such heroes of American wilderness as Daniel Boone and David Crocket. His story is at once an important contribution to the history of the western frontier in the decades to which it pertains and a thrilling tale of sustained adventure. A clean very presentable copy.

Trade Paperback. Condizione: Fine. Eighth Printing. 253 Pages Indexed. Britton Davis's account of the controversial "Geronimo Campaign" of 1885-86 offers an important firsthand picture of the famous Chiricahua warrior and the men who finally forced his surrender. Davis knew most of the people involved in the campaign and was him…self in charge of Indian scouts, some of whom helped hunt down the small band of fugitives. Robert M. Utley's foreword reevaluates the account for the modern reader and establishes its historical background.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. First Edition. 1st EDITION. This copy is NEAR FINE; the text is clear, bright, and unmarked except for price top fep; binding is tight, but pages and edges show some age. The jacket is good: intact, including perfect color and design, but small tears on edges and… signs of age. We have a five star rating because of our fulfilment success and because our descriptions are accurate. On foreign sales, because of the heavy weight of this book, we have to charge extra for shipping: however, we will only charge the difference between our regular shipping rate and the extra charge that the U.S.Post Office asks to ship the book. We guarantee: NO NASTY SURPRISES.

As a member of the St. Louis Missouri Fur Company's expedition of 1809-10 to the headwaters of the Missouri he was one of the first Americans to traverse this then r…emote area; and as a trader to Santa Fe and to the Comanche Indians in the years 1821-23 he was again one of the first Americans to traverse and describe the southwestern area extending from St. Louis to Santa Fe." - Historical Introduction. Soft cover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: None as Issued. First Edition, 3rd Printing. Text/BRAND NEW & Bright. Illustrated soft cover/NF showing light edge rubs. Fold-out map (also BRAND NEW). First published 1926, Yale Univ. Autobiography/memoir of pioneer, hunter and trapper Luther S. "Yellowstone" Kelly (1…849 - 1928). "Yellowstone" earned his nickname while scouting for the Army on the Yellowstone River; from 1876 to 1878 he was Chief of Scouts for Lieutenant-General Nelson Miles who penned the Foreword. Kelly later guided two expeditions into Alaska, served as the Captain of Volunteers in the Philippines and then took on a post as agent of the San Carlos Indian Reservation. It is said he was as as likely to quote Shakespeare as skin a beaver. His stoies of hunting, scouting and frontier warefare are certainly well narrated. Yellowstone Kelly finally retired in California where he died on Dec. 17, 1928. At his request he was buried at the summit of Kelly Mountain in Billings Montana overlooking the land he scouted and loved.
