The methods are applicable to nonlinear initial value problems and differ from existing methods in that they have been constructed in divergent form using a similar approach to the original differential equations. This approach avoids many complex calculations and disadvantages that would present themselves in other methods and provides a highly efficient means of computation. The book furthermore analyzes the stability of these new difference schemes, with results that show potential for both computational efficiency and high accuracy that could prove useful for solving problems in gas dynamics and other fields. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
