Jacques Mislin ( 1807 - 1878) , a French Catholic priest, and a member of several French academic societies started his journey east in June 1848. This is an account of his observation during that trip which led him to several Levant countries. This book was prefaced by letters from Pope Pius IX, and Alexander Dumas. In-12,… reliure en plein chagrin brun de l'époque, l'intérieur des plats et les pages de gardes au début et à la fin du livre sont couvert composés de tissu en soie rouge avec roulette intérieure, dos à nerfs orné, tranches rouges, Un portrait du Christ en couleurs et dorures en frontispice, les pages du livres sont encadrées de frises décoratives à motifs floraux dorées, 8 feuillets non-chiffrés contenant la page de titre et 4 pages « Mémorial de la famille » avec un paragraphe composé d'écriture manuscrite indiquant le nom du possesseur du livre et celle qui lui avait offert en souvenir de la 1ere communion, avec la date 1874. Le livre d'heures se compose de 534 pages, 24 chromolithographies en forme de compositions graphiques en couleurs et dorures retraçant l'histoire religieuse biblique hors-texte. Introduction de Joannes Kutschker et de Franciscus Szaniszlo. Exemplaire en bon état.
