This mint unmarked copy is bound in red buckram covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine, tight, white, bright and square. The unclipped dust wrapper is in mint condition. All merchant ships ordered to be built in Britain to Government account, except very small ship types, were given the prefix 'Empire' to their name. Built 'Empire' ships are listed within general ship types and then sublisted to each building yard. Then follow historical notes on each shipyard and ships built under private contract or licence during the war years and the 'shoulder' months of the war.
