Reliure plein maroquin vermillon, dos à nerfs richement orné aux petits fers dorés, triple-filet doré en encadrement des plats, double-filet sur les coupes, tranches dorées sur marbrure, jeu de filets et roulettes dorées en encadrement intérieur des plats, doublure et gardes de papier peigne (reliure signée TRAUTZ-BAUZONNET, vers 1870). Exemplaire parfaitement conservé. Très jolie édition imprimée par les Hackius de Leyde qui se joint à la collection des Elzévier. Dans l'Avertissement, l'imprimeur déclare quelle a été son intention de rassembler en bon ordre toute la poésie satyrique française. Et il ajoute : "Je t'avertis aussi, curieux lecteur, qu'ayant ce présent livre tu n'as que faire de rechercher le recueil des vers satyres, les Satyres du sieur Regnier, pour avoir ce mélange qui est en suite, les Muses gaillardes, ny les Satyres Bastardes (d'Angoulevent)." Les Satyres de Regnier sont en effet réimprimées dans leur entier dans leur ordre à la fin du tome II (pp. 193 à 323). "Le Cabinet satyrique porte peut-être au sommet l'érotisme littéraire du XVIIème siècle français" (Dictionnaire des uvres érotiques, pages 77 et78). On trouve dans ce recueil moult culs, cons, vits ou autres cocus. On peut y lire les vers les plus gaillards et les plus libres de la poésie française de la fin du XVIe siècle au début du XVIIe siècle. Les histoires de veuves, de jeunes jouvencelles, de vieillards libidineux et aultres valets coquins ou coquines servantes justifiées tant par devant que par derrière . Provenance : de la bibliothèque du bibliophile dauphinois Auguste Génard (1819-1908) avec son ex libris doré sur fond rouge "au dauphine pâmé". Ce précieux volume était le n°365 de la vente de 1882 (il fut adjugé 300 francs or). Sa très riche bibliothèque fut mise aux enchères en de nombreuses vacations entre 1882 et 1886. « Collection importante de beaux livres en fort belle condition d'exemplaires et de reliures. Catalogue très bien fait, et rédigé avec un soin digne d'éloges, par M. Albert Ravanat, libraire de Grenoble. Cette vente aurait pu, en temps opportun, donner un résultat plus brillant et aurait dû avoir alors un succès grand et mérité. Mais l'époque était mal choisie, l'esprit des amateurs et des libraires de Paris était en Angleterre où l'on exposait la deuxième partie de la bibliothèque Beckford, c'est-à-dire une vente de cinq cent mille francs de livres précieux ! » (Bulletin du bibliophile et du bibliothécaire.
