Others forms of ownership do exist, however, and understanding them is essential. Organisational Behaviour is the study and application of knowledge about how people act within organisations. The key elements in an organisation are: people, structure, technology and external environment in which the organisation operates. When people join together in an organisation to accomplish an objective, some kind of structure is required. People also use technology to get the job done. So there is an interaction of people, structure, and technology. In addition, these elements are influenced by the external environment, and they influence it. Planning is deciding in advance what to do and how to do. It is one of the basic managerial functions. Before doing something, the manager must formulate an idea of how to work on a particular task. Leadership is probably the most frequently studied topic in the organizational sciences. Thousands of leadership studies have been published and thousands of pages on leadership have been written in academic books and journals, business-oriented publications, and general-interest publications. The book examines the relevance of different theories and concepts organizational behaviour to the practical problems of the management of human behaviour in specific settings.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: New. 1st Edition. Contents: 1. Framework of industrial relations. 2. Dynamic of industrial relations. 3. Union management relations. 4. Wage policy and legislation. 5. Health, safety, security and labour welfare. 6. Emerging trends in industrial relations. The industrial relations systems concept has been criticized and challenged. Criticisms have included charges that it is too static, failing to specify how change occurs in industrial relations; that its treatment of ideology is too simplistic; and that it is too deterministic or does not encourage sufficient appreciation for strategic choices made by the actors. Industrial relations define relationships between employers and employees toward each other in terms of supervision, direction, planning and coordination of organizational activities, with minimal human effort and functions; all this done with an enthusiastic spirit taking into consideration the safety of all employees. Industrial relations may also be defined as relations between employees and management. The trade union is an association, either of employees or employers or of independent workers. It is a relatively permanent combination of workers and is not temporary or casual. It is an association of workers engaged in securing economic benefits for its members. Trade and/or labour unions represent the employees in negotiations with the employer. Understanding Industrial Relation and Labour Legislation is very important for students of management in order to manage human resources effectively but in the process of understanding they encounter difficulties in the absence of a suitable book. Existing books on Labour Laws are either too technical or too cumbersome with plethora of case laws or too brief and too sketchy that they hardly convey anything. The result is that students get confused and develop dislike for the subject.

When we set out to explain the scope of consumer behaviour we need to refer to all that which forms part of consumer behaviour. Consumer behaviour includes not only the actual buyer and his act of buying but also the various roles played by different individuals and the influence they exert on the final purchase decision. Consumer behaviour is interdisciplinary approach based on concepts and theories about people that have been developed by behavioural scientists, philosophers and researchers in diverse disciplines such as psychology, sociology, social psychology, cultural anthropology and economics. The study of consumer behaviour also helps management to understand consumers needs so as to recognise the potential for the trend of development of change in consumer requirements and new technology and also to articulate the new thing in terms of the consumers needs so that it will be universally accepted in the market well. This book is to provide useful insights to the consumers, sellers, policy makers, government, industrialist and academicians in the field of behavioural sciences and consumer studies.

In common parlance, the term is particularly associated with trade unions and the exercise of overt conflict, most notably by workers in the form of strikes, picketing and work-to-rules. Trade unions are associations of workers for the purpose of maintaining or improving the conditions of their working lives. Trade Unions in India are registered and file annual returns under the Trade Union Act (1926). Statistics on Trade Unions are collected annually by the Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. As per the latest data, released for 2012, there were 16,154 trade unions which had a combined membership of 9.18 million (based on returns from 15 States - out of a total of 36 States). Collective bargaining is a procedure by which employment related disputes are resolved cordially, peacefully and voluntarily by settlement between labour unions and managements. The objective of the Industrial Disputes Act is to secure industrial peace and harmony by providing machinery and procedure for the investigation and settlement of industrial disputes by negotiations. Industrial economics has evolved to account for the successes and failures. The chapters attempt to describe these changes in Industrial economics-both in the kinds of models used and in the factors that are identified as playing key roles.
