Contains a frontispiece of Cheadle, a photographic plate of John Michael Blagg, to whom the book is dedicated, and a folding plate of a ground plan of Croxden Abbey. Collated complete.Despite the book claiming that the peaceful market town of Cheadle was not a scene of many historical incidents in themselves, it was still a center of manufacturing and agriculture during the height of the industrial revolution, and has a history dating back to Henry II. It is now most famous for 'Pugins' Gem', the recently built Catholic Church of St. Giles that remains a great example of Gothic architecture. In the publisher's original red cloth.
