Constant volume spherical expanding flames were employed to measure the laminar burning velocity at elevated pressures. A multi-zone heat transfer simulation model of the wall-flame interaction is developed in order to predict the quenching distance of typical syngas-air flames. Engine-like turbulent conditions were experimentally reproduced in a rapid compression machine. Two working procedures are shown, the single compression event and double stroke events of compression and expansion. A simulation model for the power cycle of syngas-fuelled engines has been developed. The validated model is applied to a syngas-fuelled engine in order to determine its performance. 300 pp. Englisch.
