Hardback. Condizione: New. When Paul wrote First Thessalonians shortly after the recipients had accepted the Gospel, many significant issues had already arisen among them. Of great concern was the social complexity, and even persecution, they encountered because they had "turned to God from idols" (1:9). The countercultural stan…ce of those earliest believers, and especially the impact that may have had for women, is addressed throughout this commentary. While Paul directs no remarks only to women in this letter, the ramifications of his preaching on their daily lives emerge vibrantly from the application of a feminist hermeneutics of suspicion to the text. While Second Thessalonians is a shorter letter, it has been disproportionately influential on Christian thought, especially apocalyptic doctrine and the "Protestant work ethic." From a feminist perspective, it is androcentric, rhetorically manipulative, and even violent. In this commentary, Mary Ann Beavis and HyeRan Kim-Cragg explore this text from many angles to expose both constructive and destructive implications in the text. Notably, they suggest a perspective on the "afflictions" endured by the Thessalonian church that neither glorifies suffering nor wishes for revenge but rather sees the divine presence in women's acts of compassion and care in circumstances of extreme duress and inhumanity. From the Wisdom Commentary series Feminist biblical interpretation has reached a level of maturity that now makes possible a commentary series on every book of the Bible. It is our hope that Wisdom Commentary, by making the best of current feminist biblical scholarship available in an accessible format to ministers, preachers, teachers, scholars, and students, will aid all readers in their advancement toward God's vision of dignity, equality, and justice for all.The aim of this commentary is to provide feminist interpretation of Scripture in serious, scholarly engagement with the whole text, not only those texts that explicitly mention women. A central concern is the world in front of the text, that is, how the text is heard and appropriated by women. At the same time, this commentary aims to be faithful to the ancient text, to explicate the world behind the text, where appropriate, and not impose contemporary questions onto the ancient texts. The commentary addresses not only issues of gender (which are primary in this project) but also those of power, authority, ethnicity, racism, and classism, which all intersect. Each volume incorporates diverse voices and differing interpretations from different parts of the world, showing the importance of social location in the process of interpretation and that there is no single definitive feminist interpretation of a text.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Does your dishwasher leave dishes spotted, film-coated, or only halfway clean - even after a full cycle? Are you running the same default setting for every load and wondering why results are inconsistent? You are not alone. Most dishwasher owners use less than half of their appliance's actu…al capability simply because no one explained how it all works. This comprehensive user guide changes that completely.Written specifically for owners of the Kenmore 24-Inch Premium Hybrid Tub Dishwasher, this guide covers everything from first-time setup to long-term maintenance in clear, practical language that respects your time and intelligence. Whether you just unboxed your dishwasher or have owned it for years, this guide gives you the complete operational knowledge to get spotless results from every single cycle.Inside this guide, you will discover: How to select the right wash cycle for every type of load - and why cycle selection matters more than most owners realize. The complete breakdown of every available program: Normal, Heavy, Quick Wash, Eco, Auto Sense, and Rinse Only - including exactly what happens inside the tub during each phase of every cycle. The truth about pre-rinsing dishes - and why stopping this habit actually improves cleaning results while cutting your water use significantly. How water hardness in your home affects every cleaning outcome, and the precise steps for calibrating your water softener, salt reservoir, and rinse aid dispenser to match your local conditions. The complete loading strategy for plates, bowls, glasses, pots, pans, cutlery, and specialty items - including the single most common loading mistake that causes cleaning failures on otherwise perfect cycles. How to use the Sanitize, Hi-Temp Wash, Steam Pre-Wash, Heated Dry, and Delay Start options to customize every cycle for your specific load.A complete monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance schedule that takes less time than most people spend looking for the manual - and prevents the gradual performance decline that leads owners to replace appliances that simply needed care. Step-by-step filter cleaning, spray arm maintenance, door seal care, and interior deep-cleaning procedures using safe, household materials.A comprehensive troubleshooting reference organized by symptom, with diagnostic tables that identify the cause of dishes not cleaning, draining failures, unusual noises, door issues, and odors - and resolve the large majority without a service call.Energy and water efficiency strategies that can meaningfully reduce the operating cost of your dishwasher over the course of a year - including time-of-use pricing optimization, full-load operation principles, and the Eco cycle guide.Complete technical specifications, a full glossary of appliance terminology, and a fillable maintenance log to track your appliance's service history. This guide is for you if: You want genuinely clean dishes - not just rinsed ones. You are tired of spots, film, and residue that your dishwasher should be eliminating. You want to run your appliance efficiently without sacrificing results. You want to protect a significant appliance investment with proper, consistent care. You want a single reference that answers every dishwasher question you have - and several you have not thought to ask yet.Your Kenmore dishwasher is a capable, well-engineered appliance. This guide shows you exactly how to use it that way. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.
