Exterior paste on is clear and bright, red cloth is moderately faded, white tiles are mostly faded. Edges and tips minimally worn, spines modestly crimped. Inside is unmarked, clear, and firmly bound with modest toning to the text and EPs. Small faded damp stains ( 1/2 quarter and half dollar sized) at top/bottom of title page. Morris ( 1833-1922) wrote dozens of books about history targeted to young people, very few of which survive in collectable condition today. SCARCE.

The interior book has a former owner's name and other writing on the first page in from the cover, staining on these two pages from an old newspaper clipping, the published date written at the top of the next page and some stains on some of the book's pages, Most of the illustrations are in a well-preserved and enjoyable condition as is most of the book's printing and the bindings are just beginning to crack inside the front cover, but tight inside the rear cover.
