Condizione: Very good. First Edition. First edition; 6 3/4 x 5; pp. [6], 9-83, [11]; textured beige wraps, illustrated in dark blue; a small nick to tail of spine and light foxing to margins; mild spotting to endpapers and occasionally to textblock; illustrated with drawings; very good condition.Vienna-born Walter Mosauer (1905 - 1937) began teaching zoology at UCLA in 1931. A recognized authority on reptiles, he was also the coach of the UCLA ski team and one of the founders of the Ski Mountaineers Section of the Southern California Chapter of the Sierra Club. He would devise several tests for skiing ability, which would also be used by the California Ski Association and the National Ski Patrol. The book, written only 3 years before Mosauer died at the age of 32 on a reptile-collecting trip to Mexico, was a comprehensive study and instructions on early alpine skiing - from the equipment and the ways of carrying it, through falling properly and getting up, to various turns and jumps.
