Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Thema: Europäische Union, Note: 2,0, FH Kärnten, Standort Villach, Veranstaltung: Öffentliches Recht und Europarecht, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Bedingungen fü…r einen Beitritt zur Union sind in Art. 49 EUV festgelegt, der als Mindestvoraussetzungen die Achtung und Förderung der in Art. 2 EUV normierten Werte sowie die geografische und historisch-kulturelle Zugehörigkeit zu Europa nennt und auf die sogenannten Kopenhagener Kriterien verweist, welche die politischen, wirtschaftlichen und rechtlichen Kriterien für einen Beitritt zur Union enthalten. Doch der Beitritt ist auch von der Integrationsfähigkeit der Europäischen Union abhängig. Im Gründungsjahr 1957 hatte die Europäische Union (damals: Europäische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft - EWG) sechs Mitglieder, im Jahr 2018 waren es 28. Die Union hat durch ihre Erweiterungsrunden seit 1973 einen hohen Zuwachs an Bevölkerung in Verbindung mit einer signifikanten Absenkung des durchschnittlichen Wohlstandsniveaus erhalten. Insbesondere die große Osterweiterung 2004 und die kleine Osterweiterung 2007 haben die Frage nach der Fähigkeit der Union, weitere neue Mitglieder aufzunehmen, aufkommen lassen. Dennoch will die Europäische Kommission an dem 2003 von den EU-Mitgliedsstaaten gefassten Beschluss, die Westbalkanstaaten Albanien, Bosnien und Herzegowina, Kosovo, Mazedonien, Montenegro und Serbien in die Union aufzunehmen, festhalten. In vielen Mitgliedsstaaten besteht jedoch Skepsis, da die Kopenhagener Kriterien aktuell von keinem Westbalkanstaat erfüllt werden. Trotzdem wird von der Europäischen Kommission ein zeitnaher Beitritt der Westbalkanstaaten angestrebt, da Instabilität an den Außengrenzen durch den zunehmenden Einfluss Russlands befürchtet wird und die Westbalkanstaaten eine wichtige Rolle bei der Bewältigung der illegalen Migration in die EU einnehmen. Um einen zeitnahen Beitritt der Westbalkanstaaten zu erreichen, hat die Europäische Kommission deshalb angekündigt, ihr Engagement auf dem Westbalkan zu verstärken.
