Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Unknown (illustratore). George Banta Publishing Company, Menasha Wisconsin, 1917 (Second Edition, First Printing) "Manual of Military Training" by Major James A. Moss. Book is hardcover, in Good++ Condition with no DJ. Has blue cloth binding with Gilt lettering on front and spine. Interior end papers are filled with notes in pencil. Has former owner name in India Ink. Book has edge and spine wear, fading and some minor bumps and chips here and there. Interior front has very slight break to binding, as does the last paper in back. Back has a small pocket, in which was found 4 sheets of paper including: Map of Fort Leavenworth Kas. and Vincenity, January 1907. A Scaled diagram on mapping paper of marching detail. Larger Map titled "Elementary Map" appears to be a topographical type for the base and surrounding area at that time? has farms, woods, Swaps and etc. noted in detail. And there is a page of homework, from former owner, handwritten answers on plain, lined paper in pencil. All but the homework page is in pristine condition, appear to be unused. ( As is my policy, I always leave most anything I find inside old books, I feel it gives them character, I hope you'll agree). From title page: "Manual of Military Training Second Revised Edition by James A. Moss United States Army., Officially adopted by Ninety Eight (98) of our military schools and collages., Intended primarily, for use in connection with the instruction and training of cadets in our military schools and colleges and of Company officers of the National Guard and Officers'Reserve Corps; and secondarily, as a guide for Company officers of the Regular Army, the aim being to make efficient fighting companies and to qualify our cadets and our National Guard and Reserve Corps officers for the duties and responsibilities of Company officers in time of war". Then has copyright page, Note to use "Questions on Manual of Military training with the manual, available separately from the publisher. Then Prefatory and Acknowledgment, and facsimile signature of the Major. Detailed table of contents, loaded with illustrations and diagrams as well. This is a decent copy in good reading condition.
