It is wrong to believe that being poor equates to a lack of understanding or low intelligence; it would even be absurd to assume that the poor… do not dream, or that they cannot dream, in the positive sense of the term. While the majority of the poor have accepted the prejudice that their material circumstances affect their intellect and that they cannot emancipate themselves, there are some among them who allow themselves to make plans and to believe in those plans. And these persistent prejudices, buried in the subconscious of many disadvantaged people, must be eradicated; the poor must learn to transcend themselves and rise above their circumstances-that is, to break free from this 'loser' mentality. On the contrary, they must adopt a 'winner's' mentality, and they can certainly do so, provided they adopt a new mindset: one that fights against any notion that equates poverty with a lack of creative intelligence. E questi pregiudizi tenaci, sepolti nel subconscio di molte persone indigenti, devono scomparire; i poveri devono imparare a trascendere se stessi e a superare i propri limiti, ovvero uscire da questa mentalità da perdenti. Devono, al contrario, avere una mentalità da vincitori, e possono farlo, naturalmente, a condizione che adottino un nuovo comportamento, quello di lottare contro ogni idea che consideri la povertà sinonimo di mancanza di intelligenza creativa. Embora a maioria dos pobres tenha aceitado o preconceito de que a sua condição material influencia o seu intelecto, de que não conseguem emancipar-se, há quem, entre eles, se atreva a fazer planos, a acreditar nos seus projetos. E esses preconceitos tenazes, enterrados no subconsciente de muitas pessoas carenciadas, têm de desaparecer; os pobres têm de aprender a transcender-se e a superar-se, ou seja, a sair dessa mentalidade de perdedor.
