Kuhn und Hans Georg Gadamer über das Wesen von Wissenschaft einbezieht. [.] An dieser Untersuchung ist mehreres bemerkenswert: der Mut, den eigenständigen Charakter der Theologie in ihrer Bindung an das Wort Gottes, das selbst eine geschichtliche Tat ist (Christi Tod und Auferstehung), zu vertreten, zugleich die Erkenntnis, dass dies in einer In-Beziehung-Setzung mit der vollen Weite der Wissenschaften- Natur- und Geisteswissenschaften - erfolgen muss und erfolgen kann. Die Reflexionen entlang Kuhn und Gadamer weisen - bei allen Unterschieden - Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Naturwissenschaften, Geisteswissenschaften - insbesondere der Philologie - und der Theologie auf. Das von M. angegangene Projekt drängt zur Klärung weiterer Fragen [.]." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Das Buch widmet sich der Frage nach der Theologie als Wissenschaft im Gespräch mit Thomas Kuhns Wissenschaftsphilosophie und Hans-Georg Gadamers Hermeneutik der Geisteswissenschaften. Die Analyse der erstaunlichen Konvergenzen dieser beiden Theorien erlaubt eine Verhältnisbestimmung von Natur- und Geisteswissenschaften, die ihre Komplementarität betont und dabei Gemeinsamkeiten wie Unterschiede respektiert. In diesem Bezugsrahmen kann Theologie im Hinblick auf die kreatürliche Vermittlung von Gottes Offenbarungshandeln als eine wissenschaftliche Disziplin verortet werden. Ausführlich wird dargelegt, in welch hohem MaÃe die Naturwissenschaften nach Kuhns Theorie an der von Gadamer behaupteten Universalität der hermeneutischen Erfahrung partizipieren: Momente wie Sinndeutung, Geschichtlichkeit, Traditionszugehà rigkeit, persà nliches Involviertsein gehen auch in die Naturwissenschaften mit ein. Darin äuÃert sich eine Transformation der traditionellen Vorstellungen von Objektivität und Rationalität, nicht jedoch deren postmoderne Auflà sung. Andererseits wird im Anschluss an Gadamer verdeutlicht, dass die Geisteswissenschaften eine Erfahrung von Wahrheit kennen, die methodisch nicht kontrollierbar ist, vielmehr nur erfahren werden kann, indem man sich auf sie einlässt. Die Theologie kommt von einer solchen Erfahrung her, und das bedingt die unterschiedlichen Wirklichkeitsorientierungen in Theologie und Naturwissenschaften: Diese suchen Wirklichkeit ordnend zu erfassen und soweit wie mà glich zu kontrollieren - wenngleich nicht von einer absoluten, sondern von einer "hermeneutischen Basis" aus. Theologie hingegen sucht als Sinndeutung von Wirklichkeit im Unterschied zu anderen Deutungen zur Sprache zu bringen, wie die Welt im Licht der in Christus offenbar gewordenen Wahrheit aussieht. Sie unternimmt es somit, eine Wahrheit auszulegen und zu vertreten, die man erfährt, indem man an ihr Anteil gewinnt.
