A memoir by a blind woman, with much of interest about the New-York Institution for the Blind. Among the visitors who spoke to the residents was the Chief of the Ojibway Tribe, and a doctor lectu…ring on the Shrotes Hunger Cure. Several odd medical systems are described. Mulberry publisher's cloth decorated in blind, faded gilt titling to spine. Corners bumped, some small holes to hinge gutter, light foxing to title and tissue guards. On the whole a very good copy.

Aggiungi al carrelloLater edition (one of many) of an apparently self-published book. Presentation copy; inscribed by the author, ' ÔA Place in thy memory, dearest, and a memory in thy prayers!' ' S. Helen DeKroyft. March 30th 1868.' Contemporary owner (or recipient's) signature below. Original cloth; spine ends worn; very good. The frontispiece (a… bit foxed and darkened) is of the New York Institution for the Blind. Widowed and blinded early, the author actively lectured and inspired others for about a half-century.
