Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: None, As Issued. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1 pages. Published in 1925. Rare Chicago-iana collectible piece. A fine archival, double-weight silver-gelatin print of one of the earliest and most beautiful street photographs ever taken of the great city. The photographer is un-identified, as was the practice for much of the 20th century, but was obviously a professional photojournalist (rather than an amateur), with an acute sense of perspective, breadth, and sensitivity. Print size is 6.0 X 5.0 inches (horizontal format). Permanently mounted/pasted on its original hard board, complete with detailed manual notations and descriptions in front. Mounted size is 10.0 X 10.0 inches. Beautifully framed in black wood and plexiglas by Dan Mrotek/Stephen Daiter Gallery Chicago. The print is the only surviving specimen of its kind. Without DJ, as issued. Presents "Portrait of Downtown Chicago 1925". Vividly shows a very busy Chicago downtown street, teeming with people and cars on a bright sunny day. As the notations indicate, it was taken and meant for publication in a mass medium outlet such as the city's newspaper. It is one of the most beautiful street photographs of Chicago, or any other American city for that matter, ever taken for posterity, a museum piece. The quality of the tonally rich and luminous print is incredible, living proof that silver-gelatin is archival, and will outlive its subjects - and us - all. An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, piece for Chicago-iana and photography collectors. This original silver-gelatin print is a photography classic. It is nearly 100 years old, the only surviving print of its kind. It is professionally framed by Dan Mrotek of Stephen Daiter Gallery Chicago, and is in especially fine condition: Tonally rich, clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: This is an archival, double-weight silver-gelatin print, NOT a digital copy. Analog prints will always be desirable because they are hand-made, and are no longer being produced as such by most contemporary photographers. A rare print thus. 1 original silver-gelatin print.
