Light wear and just a bit of faint offsetting on the endleaves, very near fine in a toned, very good just jacket with shallow loss at the folds and spine ends, and a very short split at the crown. Review copy, with the partially printed slip laid in, addressed by hand to the editor of *The Sunday Times*. Printed in an edition of 315 copies (in two editions), this review copy is unnumbered. Issued as Nineteenth-Century Highways and Byways, No. II; the poems by Clive were first published in 1840.
