This book is a detailed account of one year in the lives of the cadets at the Ryan School of Aeronautics, a primary training center for new pilots in the United States Army Air Corps. Spanning the period between June 1939 and June 1940, the text provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of these young men and the rigorous training they endured as they prepared for their future roles as military aviators. The author, a flying cadet himself, provides a unique insider's perspective on the challenges, camaraderie, and personal growth that characterized this transformative experience. Through a series of vivid anecdotes and personal reflections, this book sheds light on the dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of these aspiring pilots as they embarked on their journeys to become guardians of the skies. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Hall, entitled "Ireland, Its Scenery, Character, &c. &c.", concluded by a 30-pp. section of advertsements. Anna Maria Hall (1800 - 1881) was an Irish novelist who often published as "Mrs. S. C. Hall". She was born Anna Maria Fielding in Dublin, but left Ireland for England at the age of 15. Mrs Hall's first recorded contribution to literature is an Irish sketch called "Master Ben", which appeared in The Spirit and Manners of the Age, January 1829. Other tales followed. Eventually they were collected into a volume entitled Sketches of Irish Character, 1829, and henceforth she became an author by profession. Hall's sketches of her native land contain fine rural descriptions, and are animated by a healthy tone of moral feeling and a vein of delicate humour. Her books were never popular in Ireland, as she saw in each party much to praise and much to blame, so that she failed to please either the Orangemen or the Roman Catholics." (from Wikipedia) "The Public having required a third Editon of these 'Sketches of Irish Character,', I have been called upon to prepare it -- to revise the stories originally published, and to add several new; and the publishers have given to them the advantage of very beautiful illustrations. The 'Sketches' chiefly refer to one locality -- the parish of Bannow, on the sea-coast of the County of Wexford -- my native place, where the earlier years of my lilfe were passed." (from Introduction).
