Patterson", a student of either sewing or home economics. She received a "B+" grade, marked in pencil on the first leaf. The samples show her progress from simple stitc…hes (back stitch, slip stitch) to more complex techniques (buttonholes, pockets, patching, piping, smocking). Each sample is rendered in red floss on natural linen. Large 8vo (10.25" by 8"), approx. 75 blank leaves with approx. 20 leaves filled with ink manuscript and sewing samples, bound in original composition notebook with printed paper label on upper cover with ink manuscript ("Mrs. Robert D. Patterson"). Good to very good. Toned, some offsetting. Extremities of binding worn. One or two short tears, holes, no major loss. All samples appear present. Damage to printed label on upper cover.
