[ ABOUT THE BOOK ] Alphonse Mucha: Posters and Photographs Book by Jiri Mucha | This book traces the life and work of Alphonse Marie Mucha, the decorative artist whose style influenced clothing, colours, interior decoration and the entrances of the Paris Métro at the turn of the century. It considers his distinctive combination of draughtsmanship and the arrangement of ornament in space, and discusses his decorative panels and posters, particularly those created for Sarah Bernhardt. In an era that included poster artists such as Chéret and Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha developed a new style that had both precursors and imitators. | Jiri Mucha offers an account of his father's career and achievements as an artist, as well as the ultimate tragedy of his life. The book includes a broad selection of Mucha's work, with more than 100 black-and-white and 40 colour reproductions. It also features photographs Mucha took of his models, which provide a view of material he transformed in his drawings and paintings. (LL). Mucha, Alphonse (illustratore).…
