Motivated by some of its shortcomings, we introduce the theory of cosmic inflation followed by the detailed derivations of scalar and tensor power spectra. We also discuss the mechanism for reducing the tensor to scalar ratio in Gauss-Bonnet inflationary models. In braneworld, Friedmann equations are modified to include a quadratic term in energy density.We review some of the essential ingredients of swampland program, and discuss its constraints on the theory of cosmic inflation.In particular, the tensor-to-scalar ratio can be reduced without changing the spectral index. Special emphasis is put on the gauge dependence of scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs), focusing on the radiation domination (RD) and matter domination (MD) eras.In the second part, we present our modern understanding of gravity and the standard model of particle physics in the context of string theory phenomenology. Specifically, a supersymmetric Pati-Salam model with a wrapping number equal to 5 has been constructed from intersecting D6-branes on a Type IIA toroidal orientifold. Approximate string-scale gauge coupling unification is achieved.
