Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 8vo. 101p. Profusely (!) illustrated with black and white captioned photographs by Josef Muench. Front endpapers are another black and white photo, rear endpaper is a map of Kings Canyon National Park. Rear turn-in of the dust jacket has a black and white photo of Josef Muench. Green cloth with gilt letters on the spine. Just hints of wear to extremities, cloth clean, gilt bright, else fine with no internal markings. Appears to have had almost no use. Dust jacket ever so slightly shelfworn but not price-clipped. All in all a very nice copy. "Josef Muench was born in Germany in 1904 and came to the United States as a gardener when he was 24 years old. His passion had been photography from an early age and upon moving to the West, in 1930, he quickly became a pioneer color landscape photographer. His work dominated the pages of Arizona Highways Magazine throughout the 1940s and 1950s, and he contributed to many other publications for more than 50 years. Josef Muench died in 1998 at the age of 94, leaving a son (David) and a grandson (Marc) to carry on his photographic legacy." [from the finding aid to The Josef Muench Photography Collection at Northern Arizona University] Josef Muench published several books of his photos. Apparently Joyce Muench wrote some of the introductory matter.
