Laid in is a letter from Madame Monnet to Rieti presenting this book to him. Rieti was a contributor. Other contributions came from Freya Stark, Peter Ustinov, F. Furet, Henri Monnet (a poem), Soulina Straviinsky, Commandant Fourier, Claude Levi-Strauss, Alys Bine. For his efforts fighting the German occupiers, Monnet was awarded the Croix de Guerre in both World Wars, also. the Medal of the Resistance, and Commander of the Legion of Honor.
