sheet_music. Condizione: Good. Jerome H. Remick & Co. [Published Date: 1914]. Sheet music, large format (10.75" x 13.5"). Paper covers, 6 pages (including covers). For voice and piano. In good condition with a few small nicks and tears and light creasing along edges with slits along the top and bottom of the fold of the outer co…vers. Light overall scuffing, aging and soiling to pages as well, but otherwise unmarked. Beautiful cover design by Starmer. Stanley Murphy (1875 - 1919) was an Irish-American lyricist known for his work on popular early 20th-century songs, often collaborating with composers like Henry I. Marshall. Among their well-known collaborations is "Be My Little Baby Bumble Bee" (1912). Henry I. Marshall (1883 - 1958), an American composer, worked extensively in vaudeville and Broadway. Together, they wrote "Mandy Ain't You Coming Out To-Night" which falls within the vaudeville's love-song style, popular in the early 20th century. [Verse I] I can hear you shuffling on the cabin floor, Mandy, Mandy! I can see you, honey, through the cabin door, Mandy, Mandy! I can hear that little tune you're syncopating, I can feel my little heart a palpitating; Hurry wn't you, honey, don't you keep me waiting, Mandy dear. [Chorus] Mandy! Mandy! ain't you coming out tonight? Mandy! Mandy! see the moon is shining bright, my Mandy! Little stars winking at the wise old moon, 'Cause they know it's time for us to spoon, So, oh, Mandy! Mandy! ain't you coming out to night? A note about the cover art : Some of the most creative and eye-catching cover art of the ragtime-era were done by one of the prolific, but elusive, Starmer Brothers. Their work was of consistently high quality and they were turning out nearly a quarter of all large format covers from the late 1890s to around 1919. The identity of the artists was unknown until an invoice was discovered with a printed heading describing "Starmer" as artist and medical draughtsman. Not much else is known about the Starmer family.

[Verse I] Neath a big birch tree Lived a Bumble bee, And he knew that he was in love; For of late he'd seen, Oh, the cutest Queen! In the orchard just up above. So they met one day, In a field of hay. On a clover blossom red. And he buzzed around Till these words he found. Tehn he signed and softly said: [Chorus] When it's buzz, buzz, buzzin' time in bee, bee, bee town I'll be buzz, buzz, buzzin' round with you; Tho' your duzz, duzz dozen little cuzz, cuzz, cousins may be buzz, buzz, buzzin'round you too! But you will fly away with me to see the preacher bee, And when I've settle dup we'll settle down: Then I'll build a cozy little home All out of wax and honey comb. In buzz, buzz, buzzin-time in bee town. . . But the birds and flow'rs and trees, Ain't like they used to be, They just make me sad and blue, 'Cause you're away from me. [Chorus] Little Lovin' Lady Lou, I pine for you, indeed i do!
