From 1898 to 1910, Miller was the clerk on the Crow Reservation in southern Montana, where he photographed the Crow people as they were adapting to reservation life. This book includes 102 spectacular photographs, many with the names and birth and death dates of the people in the photos, and provides a portrait of the Crow during what was the last years of their wholly traditional Plains life.
