He was Special Adviser (Conservation) to the National Museums of Canada in Ottawa until 1979. He has lectured widely and frequently acted as a consultant for museums and institutions in several countries. Recently he has been conservation consultant to the Irish Treasures Exhibition in the United States of America (1977-1979), and a special lecturer in the museology programmes at the University of Ottawa and at the Unesco Centre in Mexico City. He is co-ordinator of a special working group in the International Council of Museums, and holds office in various museological and conservation bodies.
