Easy retrieval of scientific information is an important aid in any research activity, and particularly so, in floristic and taxonomic work where discoveries of new species, new records, nomen clatural changes and revisions are published in a variety of scientific literature scattered all over the world. To keep abreast with such work, bibliographies, check-lists and other reference systems prove very useful. The present bibliography will go a long way in meeting such a need for workers on the taxonomy, not only in Peninsular India, but even in those countries where Scientists are engaged in evaluation of plant resources in one way or the other. In the introduction to the work the authors have described the arrangements of the text-matter which will facilitate its reference. This annotates bibliography was presented by the authors in the symposium on "the Floristics of Peninsular India', organized by the BSI and held at Coimbatore in 1978. As it was felt that this bibliography will be of much wider interest than the remaining papers presented in the symposium, it was decided to publish this bibliography separately so that its copies could be widely made available.
