Der Verfasser W. Necker (1897-1977) war politisch engagiert, zuerst als USPD-Mitglied, bis 1925 bei der SPD, anschließend war er Syndikus beim Bauhaus, für die KPD und die Liga für Menschenrechte aktiv, bevor er 1933 nach Prag und später England flüchtete. 1947 wurde er Direktor der Deutschen Nachrichtenagentur in Bad Nauheim, geriet aber bald in Konflikt mit der dortigen Militärregierung.
