Sein erstes Werk erschien 1922 in London unter dem Titel Tractatus logico-philosophicus und begründete die analytische Philosophie. Seine 1953 posthum veröffentlichten Philosophischen Untersuchungen wurden zum Grundlagentext der sprachanalytischen Philosophie und leiteten einen Paradigmenwechsel ein: »Man könnte sagen, die Betrachtung muss gedreht werden, aber um unser eigentliches Bedürfnis als Angelpunkt.« Wittgenstein, geboren am 26. April 1889 in Wien, war aeronautischer Ingenieur, bevor er in Cambridge Philosophie studierte. Nach seiner Teilnahme am Ersten Weltkrieg trennte er sich von seinem Vermögen und arbeitete als Volksschullehrer in Niederösterreich. 1929 kehrte er nach Cambridge zurück, wurde nach Hitlers Einmarsch in Österreich englischer Staatsbürger und Professor in Cambridge. Er starb am 29. April 1951. Dieser Band setzt Ludwig Wittgenstein ein Denkmal. Michael Nedo, der seine Schriften und sein Leben wie kaum ein zweiter kennt, zeigt Wittgenstein in Fotos, Faksimiles, Briefen von und über ihn, in Zitaten aus seinen Schriften und in Berichten seiner Familie und seiner Freunde. Ein Album, das die komplexen Bezüge zwischen Wittgensteins Leben und Werk und seinem geistigen und persönlichen Umfeld erschließt. »Wittgenstein schrieb: »Ich bin ein Wahrheitssucher.« Der Leser wird es mit diesem Buch auch.« (FR). 463 pp. Deutsch.
