Contains 389 sepia-toned or black and white silver gelatin photographs measuring between .5" x .5" and 8" x 10" with captions. Very good album with edgewear with near fine photographs. An extensive album compiled by Chicago native "Chick" Neuberger beginning in 1936. Neuberger was attending Northwestern University and he photographs his friends on campus, football games, and victory parades for the University teams. A photo series from a Northwestern football game against Ohio features snapshots of the marching band and an action shot of the game. One image is captioned "Steve Toth (NU) gets off a 70 yd punt which saved the game from N.U." Neuberger also features photographs of his family during breaks from school and events they attended such as a show at the Palace Theatre and a hockey game. A section from March 24, 1937 includes part of a program for the Tenth Annual Intercity Golden Gloves at Chicago Stadium with snapshots pasted to the program. Another section shows the family at the South Shore Country Club. By 1942 Neuberger had enlisted with the Army to fight during World War II. A page featured here is captioned "the night before I left for the Army Dec. 7, 1942" and shows Neuberger and friends at a going away party. Following this is a series of photos captioned "my first day off - Fort Logan, Colo - Jan 1943." During a furlough during Thanksgiving he spends time in Pennsylvania visiting Longwood Gardens with some girlfriends. The final pages are candids from birthday parties, picnics, and other outdoor activities. A nice collection of photographs following a young man's time at college and later in the Army during World War II.
