Finely bound in lovely Art Deco brown morocco with vertical sets of double gilt rules, five raised bands with gilt lettering, decorative end pages, all edges gilt, wide inner dentelles with double gilt rules. Likely an early 20th c. California binding. Bearing the small leather bookplate of Alfred Sutro, General Counsel of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company of which organization he had been a director since 1940, and noted bibliophile whose leadership as President of the Book Club of California was indtrumental in its growth. Near Fine, original cloth covers bound in front and rear, moderate toning to end pages and first few pages, two small rubs to morocco at rear joint, prior owner name half-title page.
