About the book >.>.> When in March 1988 Judy Lybke, the gallery owner, created, at least for Leipzig, the Post-Beuys era, it was only right and proper that the brothers Carsten and Olaf were included. Admittedly, at that time their place of work was in a cellar, and yet I can remember their alertness much better than their dimly lit room and their forced installation. His fresco-like studies on scraps of sized paper, small streams in the microcosm of nature, pictures of heads and bodies would perhaps be more likely to remind the initiated of names like Altenbourg, Claus, or Beuys. However, Carsten Nicolai does not allow himself to become involved in entanglements. He was always more attracted by mood than by concepts. If he has not tried to bridge the gap which exists in the discursive dialogue between the truth of the whole and the truth of the parts, he has at least provided the two with the prospect of an open forum in the future. And within this forum he will soon be playing with a fourth dimension. In other.
