Five page introduction by Dr. Kirby on Interpreting Ontario Folk Songs, and Ontario Folk Songs and Edith Fowke. The book holds a collection of folk songs largely drawn from the rural Ontario field recordings of Edith Fowke, a legendary folklorist. The songs are enhanced with a series of linocut illustrations by Niezen. Fowke is critically important to this book, and any other book on traditional Ontario folk songs. She made seventy road trips throughout the province, and collected more than two thousand songs. She published some of these in 1954 in a book called 'Folk Songs of Canada'. This volume contains 23 songs specifically related to Ontario. This is a fine copy.
