The programme is a 36 page booklet, approximately 5 5/8"x 8 1/2", bound in decorated pink wraps, stapled. The descriptive notes that are printed in the program are impressive for their thoroughness . concert goers could not only enjoy the music, but come away with a critical understanding of the compositions. Ellis, Manager Ludwig van Beethoven - Symphony in C minor, No. 5, Op. 67 Richard Wagner - Vorspiel and "Liebestrod" (Prelude and "Love-death") from "Tristan und Isolde" Richard Wagner - Kaiser - Marsch (B - flat major) , 4 - 4 CONDITION . Very Good Antiquarian condition, clean and attractive, with the following imperfections noted: EXTERIOR -- Moderate weathering; a touch of smudging, staining and spotting; Surface rub is modest. Edge wear includes small nicking and shallow creasing . corner tips bumped. BINDING -- Staples are holding firm, and no detachment or looseness. INTERIOR -- A small triangular tide-line (stain) exhibits at the lower fore-edge corner tip throughout (it is there , but egregious in effect). there are scattered minute spots and smudges, but again, noting of any real effect. Scattered shallow creasing. Basically clean and attractive. Aside from contributing to the history of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the numerous advertisements in the programme help to establish a picture of commercial activity in Boston during the final decade of the nineteenth century.
