The scientific community felt that hydrogen is the best for such applications by refining its limitations such as cost, safety and other technical problems. However, beside the difficulties related to hydrogen production, efficient high capacity storage is still to be developed. Hydrogen can be stored as a compressed gas, liquefied tanks or absorbed in solids. Storing hydrogen in either compressed gas or liquefied tanks is not safe and cost effective. The growth parameters are optimized to produce uniform and ultra small nanowires. The structural properties of the grown NWs are studied through scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Scanning electron microscopy studies confirm the tip growth mode of nanowires through VLS mechanism. The diameters of the grown nanowires are found to be 8-10 nm. Morphological features are studied through atomic force microscopy. Each NW contains a nano-sized Au catalyst at the bottom most end of the wire indicating the tip-growth mode from VLS mechanism.…
