Collins completed the incomplete manuscript found after Spillane's death. He writes in his Co-Author's Note: "Half a dozen substantial Mike Hammer manuscripts were found among a wealth of unpublished material. 'Lady, Go Die!' constituted perhaps the most exciting find. Initially, I thought the brittle, yellow single-spaced pages were an earlier draft of 'The Twisted Thing' (published 1966, but written much earlier), because of the shared small-town setting and a few character names. As I read the manuscript, I realized this was something quite special -- the unfinished SECOND Mike Hammer novel. . . ." 267 pp., followed by 2 pp. publisher's ads for more books by these two authors (one deceased.).

"Nor does my little book pretend to be any defense of slavery," writes the author in her Preface. "I know not whether it was right or wrong (there are many pros and cons on that subject); but it was the law of the land. . . . surrounded by negroes from my earliest infancy, 'I know whereof I speak;' and it is to tell of the pleasant and happy relations that existed between master and slave that I write this story. . . ." She does acknowledge that Mr. Harris, in "Uncle Remus," "has already given the 'Tar Baby,' but I have not seen his book, and, as our versions are probably different, I shall let mine remain just as 'Chris told it to the "chil'en.'" 217 pp. Reduced from $12.

Da: Cat's Curiosities, Pahrump, NV, U.S.A.
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. Cover photo for Scheherajazz by George Pickow (model not credited) (illustratore). Not books but two 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm, "Stereo Fidelity" vinyl record albums: Scheherajazz, Somerset SF-9700, from 1959, offers near-mint vinyl in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket. Our second LP, "Swingin' With Prince Igor," from 1960, which offers one side adapted from Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from the Prince Igor Suite and the second side adapted from Wagner's "beautifully morose Overture to Tannhauser," Somerset SF-16000, offers very-good-plus vinyl (no problems, just some track wear) in a near mint cardboard jacket. The 28-piece All-Star Jazz Band features Pete Condoli, trumpet, Gus Bivona, sax, Paul Horn on flute and reeds, Vince De Rosa, french horn, etc., under concertmeister Jacques Gasselin. Lloyd Vernon "Skip" Martin (1916-1976) played sax with Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, first arranged for Count Basie. He was the sole credited orchestrator for Judy Garland's comeback vehicle "A Star Is Born" (1954), which contains many arrangements by him of Harold Arlen and Ira Gershwin ballads, principally "The Man that Got Away" and "It's a New World." Although both these LPs have been opened, "Swingin' with Prince Igor" retains its original shrink-wrap. The pair now reduced from $22.
