Nyce, Helene (illustrator) (illustratore). dj has heavy edge wear, rubbing, creasing and chipping, numerous short tears and small pieces missing, pencil writing on inside front dj flap, binding tight, pages have heavy edge soil and minor yellowing but no brittleness, 402 pages, story of a motherless child and an absent child living with her grandfather and tormented by her slightly older aunts and uncles who turns to her black nurse for protection and must figure out how to win the love of her unloving father when he finally returns, bw frontispiece by Helene Nyce Size: 5.5 x 8.25.

Children's book features full-page color illustrations, all of which are signed by the artist.

Exterior shows modest rubbing to extremities, slight bumping to corners & both ends of spine.
