Although the author, without documentation, had to rely upon his memory, damaged by "the impression that the collapse of the Fatherland had upon his mind," gives a detailed, chronological account. Part II was to have been "The Civilian Aspect." Stapled in printed self-wrappers. Toning and chips to covers; some pages dog-eared, and with light pencil underlining here and there. Ochsner was at first reluctant to write, as he feared reprisals against his brother, also a German general, and a prisoner in the USSR.
