49x38 cm. 4-page rural New York State newspaper with an early account of the naval battle between the ironclad ships Monitor and Merrimac which had take place on March 8 & March 9, 1862. This was the first battle between ironclad ships. The outcome of the battle is generally considered to have been a draw, though the Confederate Merrimac did withdraw from the battle. The Ogdensburgh Advance is a scarce newspaper which ceased publication in 1864. American Antiquarian Society has a run of issues (with the town named Ogdensburg) from 1861 and 1862 (last issue held is March 14, 1862), but only one per week, issued on Fridays. This issue, billed as the Evening Edition, was published on a Monday.
