Axel Ohlin (1867-1903) var zoolog o…ch deltog i ett flertal expeditioner både till Nordpolen och med Otto Nordenskiöld till Sydamerika. Han hade dock alkoholproblem och dog i förtid på Sävsjö sanatorium. År 1894 deltog han i sökaktionen efter Björling-Kallsteniusexpeditionen som hade försvunnit 1892. Botanisten Johan Alfred Björling och zoologen Evald Kallstenius ledde den så kallade Svenska Grönlandsexpeditionen 1892 med skeppet Ripple. I juni hittades vraket av Ripple och en grav med en av deltagarna av ett skotskt valfångstfartyg. Den amerikanske polarfararen Robert E. Peary utrustar året därpå den räddningsexpedition, The Peary Auxilary Expedition, i vilken Axel Ohlin deltog under ledning av Henry G. Bryant. De hittade dock inget och fortfarande är det oklart vad som hände med den resterande besättningen i expeditionen. Ohlins skildring av räddningsexpeditionen ger även en värdefull skildring av hans geografiska och zoologiska iakttagelser under resan. Hardcover / Hardback.
