Im Gegensatz zur Freudschen mit ihrem Schwerpunkt auf Inzest und Vatermord wählt sie eine Interpretation, in welcher die "Tragödie des Erkennens" im Zentrum s…teht. Wir alle müssen - wie Ödipus - uns selber und die zentrale Rolle des Inzestmotivs in unserer Psyche erkennen (im stärksten Sinne des Wortes). Wir müssen auch unsere Eltern erkennen statt uns entweder mit ihnen zu identifizieren oder sie symbolisch zu töten. Hinzuzufügen wäre, dass die gegenwärtige Idealisierung des Kindes und der Mutterrolle gerade diesem Erkennen hinderlich ist. In seinem Artikel setzt sich Adolf Guggenbühl-Craig dafür ein, dass wir uns der kollektiven mythischen Kräfte bewusst werden, in denen unser Interesse am sexuellen Kindsmissbrauch wurzelt. Er plädiert dafür, dass wir der "Mythologie des Kindsmissbrauchs" nicht unreflek- tiert verfallen. Sein Ansatz könnte zu leidenschaftlichen Diskussionen führen. Aber obwohl er den psychologisch-kollektiven Hintergrund des Missbrauchs zu verstehen versucht, verkennt er in keiner Weise das Leiden, das mit konkretem Missbrauch verbunden ist.
