The story of two waifs of Paris, a boy and a dog, first published in 1840. Red cloth hardcover with illustration, no dust jacket, 160 pages. Cover soil and 1/2" hole damage to fabric of spine. Owner's signature, page stains. Fair condition. 8 nice color illustrations.

Exterior shows minor scuffing and soiling along with sunning to the edges and spine. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. Internal binding is good at the boards but there is some pulling throughout the pages where you can see a thin line of webbing. Pictorial end pages in front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, no library markings. The half title page did have something written at the bottom which was erased, though you can still see that something was there.

The front cover's pasted on illustration is bright and fresh! Top edge has several tiny stains near the foredge. Spine ends and flap fold tips of jacket are missing pieces. Edges of jacket have small tears, creases, and have portions of chipping. Spine panel and flap folds are sunned, with matching toning to the inside of jacket. Edges of the spine panel and the flap folds are rubbed. Flap folds have many tiny holes. Spine edge of front panel has a 1" tear toward the spine heel.

DJ still bright and presentable.
