Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. 49pp.; 24.5 x 17.1 cm. Tan paper wraps printed in black and red.14.5 x 10 cm when folded. Single strip of white paper printed in blue, folded in thirds.A reproduction of a manuscript of a concerto of Vivaldi's by the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, for whom Olga Rudge worked from 1933 unti…l the late 50's. The study, and discovery of Vivaldi's music was central to Rudge's work, and carries the greatest legacy. Rudge used her role as Secretary to procure microfilms of Vivaldi's manuscripts held at various Italian (and in this case English) institutions. In 1938, Rudge founded the Centro di Studi Vivaldiani at the Academy, and in 1939 organised the first Settimana Musicale Senese, a festival dedicated entirely to the revival of Vivaldi's music, much of which had not been performed since the 18th century. Rudge's work continued post-war, here taking shape as part of the Quaderni, no. XIII. With further essays, two also translated into English, notices for upcoming concerts, bibliography, and so on. Reproduces a quote from Ezra Pound,>    (E. P. > 26-II-39)and also lists one "Dr. Ezra Pound" as the last of those to whom gratitude is given. With the publisher's advertisement leaflet laid in listing issues of the Quaderni, I-XIII and further publications; in fine condition. The journal itself in very good condition, light browning along the top edge and spine; the wrappers unstuck along the spine remaining attached it seems by the back joint. A clean and straight copy, but to be handled with care.

Softcover. Condizione: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 33pp.; 21.3 x 15.7 cm. Heavy green paper wraps printed in black; stapled. "If this be treason, make the most of it." So closed Patrick Henry his speech amid cries of "Treason!" to the House of Burgesses, Virginia, 1765. Henry stood against the Stamp Act, a tax imposed on the America…n British colonies by the Parliament of Great Britain, which would, as Pound quotes John Adams in Canto 66, "drain cash out of the country | and is, further, UNconstitutional." A dangerous reference by Rudge to the same man who claimed, "Give me liberty, or give me death," this selection of Pound's radio broadcasts, the first to be printed, and taken directly from manuscript, do not so well proclaim Pound's innocence as to proclaim his rightness. Rudge had not seen Pound for three years and would not for another ten. When considering the care taken over Pound's political material at this date, even the threats William Levy received from Dorothy Pound's solicitors in 1966 for publishing two radio speeches in IT, one has to stress the independence of Rudge in this publication. Privately printed for the editor in Siena by Tip[ografica]. Nuova, January 1948. One of, Gallup suspects, around 300 numbered copies, most left unnumbered, this one rather special being No. 10. Provenance on request. Front cover and spine faded, rear cover and versos with better retention. Gallup A59.
