"A landmark scholarly edition of Scottish folk music, this second volume of the Greig-Duncan Folk Song Collection presents narrative songs gathered from Northeast Scotland in the early twentieth century. Compiled by schoolmaster Gavin Greig and the Reverend James Bruce Duncan, this is considered Scotland's… most significant manuscript collection of folk song. Volume 2 covers songs numbered 186 to 329, including ballads, comic songs, and traditional narratives, complete with musical notation, scholarly notes, a glossary of Scots words, and indexes of titles and singers. An essential reference for ethnomusicologists, folklorists, and anyone interested in Scottish cultural heritage. Author/Editors: Patrick Shuldham-Shaw & Emily B. Lyle (eds.) The dust jacket is still present and wrapped in a protective cellophane cover, though the cellophane shows creasing and wear. The dust jacket itself has some rubbing and minor soiling at the edges and corners. Inside, there are brown foxing/moisture spots on the endpapers (front and back), and some light taping marks from the cellophane wrap visible on the pages behind the inside covers. The text block is otherwise clean and intact, with no writing or underlining noted in the interior pages visible in the photos.".
